NIC Bank's Community Services

As a responsible corporate citizen of the country, NIC Bank has been involved in contributing to the society in various ways as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). NIC Bank has promoted an independent and autonomous organization namely NIC Foundation having objectives of bringing about positive changes in the society through charitable works by helping marginalized and underprivileged communities through education, health and skill development. To sustain the works of NIC Foundation the Bank contributes a fixed percentage of its annual profit for the cause. NIC Bank is the only Bank in the Banking Industry to set aside a fixed proportion of profit for such cause.

In this regard NIC Foundation has taken up a project of providing Scholarships to 10 underprivileged but meritorious girl children of a community run school in Kathmandu for last two years, which is renewed annually. Similarly, three blind students who arrived in Kathmandu from far west Jumla to pursue their higher education are also benefited by two years scholarship program at Sanothimi Campus. Banking on Youth

NIC Bank has been in the forefront in offering innovative banking products. After the successful launching of various deposits and loan products, it has now come up with another unique program "Banking on Youth" to disseminate basic knowledge of banking and money management amongst children.

“Banking on Youth" is a program to teach basic knowledge of banking and cultivate savings habit on children. Not only children but also a very large chunk of population are out of reach from banking services in Nepal despite opening of a number of Banks and its numerous branches. If children get basic knowledge relating to Banking, it is expected to cultivate savings habit on them, which ultimately is further expected to help them in managing fund and learn banking. This program, therefore, aims to teach children of various schools the basics of banking and money management in its simplest form.

The program involves:
  • Presentations to the children at school covering banking, money management, savings and its importance.
  • Invite students to various branches of the Bank for providing practical knowledge.
  • Organize functions like quiz contests/oratory programs, covering topics relating to banking, savings, money management etc, among schools.
